Job Summary:

The role will be working as a Senior PHP developer in the LMS (Learning Management Systems) development team of digital solutions.

The developer will:

  • Write code and build solutions to the standards laid down by the technical lead.
  • Advise the product owner of the best methods for solving functional requirements.
  • Provide PHP expertise and technical innovation to the team.
  • Work on projects to aid development or review code.

In fulfilling the duties of the post, the post holder will work within broad WDT policies and procedures.

Bristol Office with hybrid working available.

£52,467 per annum.

Key Responsibilities:

Day to day working as part of the development team:

  • Report to and work within the development team to build, strengthen and deliver quality products for our digital solution customers.
  • Build and maintain custom plugin modules for Moodle and Totara LMS platforms.
  • Contribute to the development of the Trust’s other web solutions including WordPress sites.
  • Provide 4th line technical support for the Trust’s software solutions.
  • Help to deliver our unified product strategy across all our solutions.
  • Engage with product owners for input to roadmaps and strategies.
  • Help improve our development processes and procedures.

Person Specification:

  • Degree or industry equivalent development qualifications- Desirable
  • Knowledge of Agile development processes- Desirable
  • Knowledge of software architecture principles.
  • Knowledge of version control systems including GIT.
  • Knowledge of software development in PHP.
  • Experience of reporting to managers on progress- Desirable
  • Considerable experience of working in a development team.
  • Extensive commercial experience of software development in PHP.
  • Experience of designing and building new solutions.
  • Ability to interact and communicate professionally with colleagues and clients at all levels to build and maintain positive working relations.
  • Ability to deal with competing timescales across different workstreams (dealing with multiple projects concurrently.)
  • Ability to travel occasionally within the UK with some overnight stays- Desirable
