Founded in 2002 and born out of the NHS, Skills for Health is a not-for-profit organisation with healthcare at its core. As the UK’s Sector Skills Council for Health, we bring unrivalled expertise and insight into the workforce challenges facing health and care providers today.

For over two decades, we’ve worked in partnership with NHS organisations and the wider sector to deliver:

  • Workforce development and integrated planning
  • Leadership and organisational development
  • Learning solutions and national frameworks
  • Workforce research and quality assurance.

We are proud to have authored the nationally recognised Core Skills Training Framework (CSTF)® and Six Steps Methodology to Integrated Workforce Planning®, and have developed numerous National Occupational Standards and apprenticeship standards that shape the future of healthcare careers.

We work closely with national bodies to shape and support healthcare workforce reform across the UK. Our expertise informs people development strategies, national apprenticeship standards, and long-term workforce planning making us a trusted voice in tackling the most pressing healthcare workforce challenges.
