John Rogers

Chief Executive

John Rogers has been the Chief Executive at The Workforce Development Trust since its establishment in April 2002, incorporating Skills for Health, Skills for Justice, SFJ Awards, and People 1st International. John leads the organisation in its mission to support and encourage health organisations to plan, develop and utilise their workforce effectively and sustainably to deliver high quality services for public benefit.

John has a long history of over 30 years work across the health sector – predominantly in leadership roles in support of workforce development, and has a particular passion for the support of the development of the wider workforce. John was previously the Chief Executive of Healthwork UK (the National Training Organisation for Health), Operations Director at the NHS Training Authority, and held senior roles in the Department of Health working directly with national NHS Exec Directors to focus on workforce development nationally in key areas of Finance and IT.

He has also served as the Chair of the UK-wide Alliance of Sector Skills Councils (2008-2013) and as a non-Executive Director of the South West Learning and Skills Council. John is also currently a non-Exec Director at the Federation of Industry Sector Skills and Standards (FISSS).
