Following the Apprenticeship Guide Awards 2026 last week, we were so pleased that Pier Training were recognised as a national finalist in the ‘Excellence in Training Delivery’ category for the Domestic and Sexual Abuse Support Worker Level 4 apprenticeship.

Being named as a finalist at a national awards ceremony is a significant achievement, particularly in a year that saw hundreds of high-quality entries reviewed by an independent judging panel. The standard of submissions was fantastic, and Pier Training’s work shone through amongst hundreds of entries.

As the assessment organisation carrying out the End-Point Assessment for this apprenticeship standard, SFJ Awards works closely with providers to ensure assessment is fair, rigorous and aligned to the realities of frontline practice. The Domestic and Sexual Abuse Support Worker standard is critically important for the sector, establishing a recognised, professional pathway for practitioners working with survivors of domestic and sexual abuse. It supports workforce development, improves consistency of practice and helps services respond more effectively to risk, safeguarding and survivor needs.

Pier Training’s delivery of this standard has demonstrated a deep understanding of both the apprenticeship model and the sector it serves. Their programme places strong emphasis on trauma-informed approaches, reflective learning and real-world application, ensuring apprentices build the competence and confidence required for such demanding roles.

This recognition comes at a particularly significant moment, as the first EPAs for Pier Training apprentices have just been completed. Reaching this milestone highlights the careful planning and collaboration involved in bringing a new apprenticeship standard to life – from programme design through to assessment readiness. Skills for Justice developed this Level 4 standard.

The awards ceremony, held on Thursday 30 April 2026 at New Dock Hall in Leeds, brought together employers, providers and champions from across the apprenticeship landscape. While there can only be one winner in each category, being shortlisted among the very best reflects the impact Pier Training is clearly making within the sector.

We congratulate Pier Training on being a finalist and look forward to continuing to work with them as apprentices progress through their End-Point Assessments. Their contribution to the Domestic and Sexual Abuse Support Worker Level 4 standard is helping to shape a stronger, more professional future for this vital workforce.
